I'm currently running 5.10.45, which gave me a message advising to upgrade to 6.2.14. I hit the link, downloaded the zip file, and expanded it, which created a folder named
boinc_6.2.14_universal-apple-darwin
That folder contains three text docs, two shell scrips, and another folder named
move_to_boinc_dir
However, the installation instructions on your site say to run the installer.

This leaves me stuck, as there's no installer in the 6.2.14 folder and I have found no "boinc_dir" resulting from the previous install. (It created an application named BOINCManager, but that's not conventionally referred to as a "dir" in OS X.)

So, how do I accomplish this upgrade?

I have had exactly the same experience as Joel, though I'm not upgrading but attempting to start from scratch. Where's the installer supposed to be? Has the package been assembled correctly?

The developer of the Mac application is on vacation, but I've forwarded it to one of the other developers.

All right, it seems you are downloading the command line package, while you need the Standard GUI package from the download site. Ignore the fact that 6.2.14 has been downgraded to development version. This is due to a bug with Vista, so it has nothing to do with the Mac version.

Thanks for pointing me to the right source; that download had an installer. FWIW, the reason I had the previous 6.2.14 download was the BOINC Manager message which directed me to http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php .That page had only one "Download BOINC" link. If there are multiple versions, please let me suggest that the download page display multiple links with an appropriate description for each.

Again, thanks for the helpful information.

I will forward that suggestion to the developer. :-)
