There was a problem with all 5.* versions of BOINC after 5.4.11 which caused clients to reset frequently if the manager didn't have reliable network access on demand -- see http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=1561 and http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/ticket/113 . A couple of developers thought that the problem was due to the synchronous DNS resolving that was implemented in 5.8.x . Has any of this changed in 6.2.14? I'd really like to change to a more recent version than 5.4.11, but not if it means manually enabling/disabling BOINC's network access when I start/stop my connection.

As far as I can find in Trac, see [trac]changeset:14826[/trac] and [trac]changeset:14827[/trac], it does do synchronous DNS.
