Hello,
I installed the new boinc manager (5.2.13) and now i have problems connecting to seti host's.
Here are the messegas i recieve from Boinc Manager:
"4-12-2005 23:47:37|SETI@home|Started download of setiathome_4.18_windows_intelx86.pdb
4-12-2005 23:47:59||Couldn't connect to hostname [setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu]
4-12-2005 23:47:59|SETI@home|Temporarily failed download of setiathome_4.18_windows_intelx86.pdb: system I/O"

Before i had a older version (4.x.x or something) and i had no problems.
I tried to disable Windows Firewall, didnt work.
Does anyone have an idea?

Greets,
Qwaurck

I tried to connect about every 5 minutes and it wont work and suddenly it worked.

qwaurck,

Happy to see that it is working. If the problem returns sporadically, please post back, with more info on your config, OS, projects attached, computer specs, version #s, etc.

The SETI@home project administrators have a lot of problems to sort out, because they close the Classic application and have to migrate the large databases and a lot of users. This has created problems in the recent past and I am sure it will continue creating problems in the next tine.

For about the last 18 hours the Seti servers have been severely overloaded and getting connected has been very difficult. There are still problems so you must have got lucky at one point. Unfortunately Seti has a history of this type of difficulty which is now reappearing because of the influx of the classic people.

The Seti admins have warned that they may not be able to cope with demand if everybody tries to join Seti only. It would be very prudent to have other BOINC projects on the go so that the alternative project will take up the slack if Seti is down. I would thoroughly recommend EAH for this purpose as it is a very reliable project and very worthwhile from the science perspective.

Why don't you check it out, since this is exactly what BOINC was designed to do.

Cheers,
Gary.

To add support to Gary's suggestion: I had similar "Temporarily failed download" problems with S@H as my only project, until I attached the Einstein@home project. Ever since, E@H has been chugging away, while S@H is still trying to right itself.
