boinc_5.10.45_Windows_x86_64 No Longe Works (Connects). I get the following error message:

"BOINC Manage-Network Status

BOINC couldn't do Internet communication, and no default connection is selected. Please connect to the Internet, orselect a default connection using Advanced/Options/Connections"

I have installed and reinstalled boinc_5.10.45 after trying boinc_6.2.5_Windows_x86_64 without success. I have 3 days worth finished work units. I tried following the above instructions: "...using Advanced/Options/Connections", but it will not let me in.

Why do I keep getting the error message:

"The BOINC Manager will not communicate with the BOINC Client" I What can I do?

I am also experiencing this problem, but only on one of my computers (running the MCE 2005 variant of WinXP with all current updates, so is Service Pack 3)

BOINC Manager version is 5.10.45

More info:
At least two projects affected in my case. Internet connected, but BOINC doesn't see it on this machine for some odd reason.

(I'm a member of Rectilinear Crossing Numbers, World Community Grid and ClimatePrediction.net; the first two are definitely not working, while there are no transfer attempts shown for the third, which may simply mean that the first two are having problems. Or the Internet is. Pity the error message isn't a tad more specific!)

Windows update was a couple of days ago.
Check that the firewall settings haven't been changed.
