Andy Bowery, system admin CPDN wrote:
Hi All,

So you will see that we have the majority of services restored now! climateapps2 has now been replaced completely. However I am aware of a number of issues which still need to be solved these are:

- cpdn_restarts is producing error messages
- server_status is not running
- project stats page is reporting an error
- uploader.oerc not available

I am aiming to get these solved by some time tomorrow. In the meantime please let me know of any other issues.

Thanks,

Andy

It is now August 10 and I still cannot rejoin CPDN. I have the program on my other computer, but here I only get "program temporarily unavailable". Should I keep on trying?

They are still working on it. They got the replacement server running yesterday, but first was a problem with a firewall blocking external access to the server, and now that they have fixed that, it looks like the httpd process is rejecting connections. I would guess Monday ...

I have been getting the same message and although I have the CPDN project on another computer, I am unable to download it on this one. Just hoping they will finally get if fixed today!

Finally able to download the project, but now I get this message:
13/08/2013 6:09:46 AM | climateprediction.net | update requested by user
13/08/2013 6:09:46 AM | climateprediction.net | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
13/08/2013 6:09:46 AM | climateprediction.net | Requesting new tasks for CPU

13/08/2013 6:09:49 AM | climateprediction.net | Server can't find key file

My account page seems OK, credits are updated but on the Boinc Manager page, work done shows 0. Is this still a server problem?
Many thanks for any help you can give me

To Ageless, 50141

Since you ask: please see my message 50195 of August 13. I just want to know if I should wait a little longer, or if this is another problem?
Thanks

Tue 13 Aug 2013 06:27:26 AM PDT | climateprediction.net | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.

Tue 13 Aug 2013 06:27:27 AM PDT | climateprediction.net | Server can't find key file

Anything I need to do on my end to resolve this issue?

The CPDN forum is back up and there is a discussion about that error.

http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=7636#46749

The problem is with the server and they are aware of it.

Please people, when you have a problem with BOINC, post you problem in a new thread in the Questions and Problems forum, or when it's a problem with CPDN, post it on CPDN's own forums.

This thread is for News regarding ClimatePrediction.net, not about how to solve any problems you have with it.

Earlier today:

Hi All,

Just to let you know that unfortunately we have just had a power failure on the main database server, Jonathan is currently looking at it. This means that all services are currently backed off. We have got the replication database server that can be switched over for such an eventually. Jonathan is going to first see if he can re-raise the main database server.

Now:

Hi Chaps,

I have managed to swap in an old PSU for the database server, and am currently checking that the database is OK.
So far, so good.

We have ordered a new PSU for the database server, which should be with us tomorrow.
As she is now running on an under-powered PSU, I don't intend to leave her running for long, so within an hour or so (certainly by 5 pm BST), we will be back offline.

She did have a redundant power supply, but both parts seem to have failed at once, or else one of them failed without triggering the usual alarms. C'est la vie.

I have put a news item on the main site.

The server has come back up in the last few minutes, so presumably the new power supply has been fitted. Still no sign of credits since the 30th but I know they are looking into it.

I think the credits are working now, it looks like all work since the server crashed has been credited. External statistics sites will take a day or two before they have picked up the new figures. There is an anomaly with beta-project credits however.

Hi,

We are having a problem with the domain name http://climateprediction.net.
It was renewed at the weekend, but the registrar seems to have broken something and the name is not propagating correctly through the DNS system.

We have reached the point where the domain http://climateprediction.net has lapsed in the majority of ISP's name servers, so the main website is not visible.

We have contacted the registrar, but they have taken no action so far.

I will update you as we find out more.

CPDN database seems to have been down since about Friday with no access to message boards/accounts etc. More news on this being due to raid problems on thread about project outages.

I just sent their support an e-mail to let them know their project is down. The transitioner, feeder, and both upload servers are "not running." Anything BOINC related gives the "Database offline" error.
