Sir Richard Branson has contacted Google, who then contacted the two companies from whom Google buys satellite photos. Fresh photos have been taken, and people participating in Amazon.com's Mechanical Turk are now searching through them, marking each 300x300ft square either "yes" for something interesting or "no" if not. (I don't know if they have any redundancy)

Here is the NPR story

If you read the mechanical turk page, they have redundancy. I am not certain how much though.

Lame.

It was on the news as "we're the first to ever do something like this". Seems they have never heard of Stardust@home, or they want to pretend they don't know it.
