Carl Christensen

Carl, the former Chief Programmer at CPDN, has finally left both CPDN and the UK. CPDN owes a great debt of gratitude to Carl. He was recruited to CPDN before it was launched publicly in September 2003 (his membership number on the cpdn independent forum is #4) and with his prior knowledge of distributed computing played a large part in shaping the Classic model software and the structure and pleasant atmosphere of the forums.

He oversaw the major move from Classic to the boinc platform and together with Tolu, who is now the project's Chief Programmer, developed several new types of model. He travelled extensively on behalf of CPDN giving numerous presentations about CPDN and distributed computing, and was a co-author of a number of CPDN scientific and computing publications.

No-one will forget Carl's good humour on the forums, his readiness to help, or his dedication far beyond the call of duty particularly at the time of the BBC project launch and when he spent weekends grappling with obdurate server problems.

His forum profile can be seen here.

He has returned to his native US where he is taking a well-deserved break travelling. We hope he will still find time to visit the forums where many of us consider him a loyal friend. We wish him every success in the future.
