I've been letting Boinc run while my computer is in use between the hours of (no restriction) using at most 100% CPU time on a 4 processor Mac.

I just started noticing a slow down (I think related to FF 2.0.0.4).

Anywhoo, I'd like to have the option to set:
Use at most x percent of CPU time WHILE IN USE
as well as
Use at most x percent of CPU time WHILE IDLE
instead of just
Use at most x percent of CPU
which probably sets both the above the same.

Is this currently possible? If so how? If not, can we get that feature in a future release?

As of now, I'm backing down 2 processors/projects to 95%.

In fact, that's another thing. Each project says "General preferences; specify when and how BOINC uses your computer" as well as "_SpecificProject_ preferences". Well, instead of all projects getting the 95% when set from the "General preferences", it only applied to the project from which I set this general preference. All projects performed an update (at least twice each), but it did not propagate. (This feature/bug actually is pretty cool because I can have 2 other projects at 100%).

But anyway, I'd like to let it run at 100% while idle and perhaps 95% (on selected projects) while my computer is in use.

Boinc 5.10.7 for Mac OS X on quad core Mac Intel Xeon.

I think you may misunderstand what this feature does. It is designed to reduce overheating on laptops and other computers with inadequate fans, so it cycles between run and suspend every few seconds.

Make sure that you aren't overriding the global prferences locally. Under the Advanced menu, select Preferences and press the Clear button.
