Have you checked the event log. From the menu Tools>event log?

Right now if I update WCG I get the following message in the event log

Thu 28 Mar 2024 20:34:11 GMT | World Community Grid | No tasks are available for Mapping Cancer Markers
With similar messages for the other task typed I have allowed on their website.

You can always try some other projects to confirm it is WCG and not your setup. (Not Climateprediction.net as they currently have no work available though that might change later this week.)

You don't say anything about what platform you are using as with a few projects that can affect work availability.

WCG task availably is a hit or miss it seems right now.

Yesterday and Tuesday they were having server issues causing problems creating new work along with the startup of a big contest called "The Computation Moonshot" described here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/article.s?articleId=810.

Check your preference to make sure that you have selected more than one sub project & CPU/GPU might help.

* Last few days I only received CPU work for Mapping Cancer Markers (MCM)... I don't know about GPU work as I don't have a GPU. *

It's always best to check the specific project forums (when available) first before posting here to see what others are saying. Could save you time going back and forth between multiple places to get an answer.

Thank you for your help I appreciate it
I have reset all BOINC prferences to default but still no tasks

I am thinking uninstall BOINC and start again?
Would that be a good idea?

It has been installed on my Windows 10 PC for well over 4 years
I do keep it updated

Thank you for your help

Did you read what you posted from the log? The sub-projects at WCG have no work available, whether they're really out of work, or because of other problems. So choose another of their sub-projects, or ask at their forums https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/index, why all these sub-projects are out of work.

Uninstalling BOINC and reinstalling it won't do anything to fix this. It's the project not sending you work.

Thank you everyone for your help
Issue RESOLVED
I deleted World Community Grid from BOINC and then rebooted PC and re-added WCG to BOINC
It is now downloading and processing tasks
I hope this resolution will help others in future

Keep an eye on those new tasks - make sure they complete with a "successful" outcome, and within the time limit.

BOINC servers will normally only refuse to send new tasks to a computer which is returning work late or with errors.

My impression is that the code to stop or slow down work to problem machines is only implemented by some projects. I don't suppose there is a list detailing which do and which don't anywhere?
