I am attached to seven projects:
Asteroids@home
Climateprediction.net
Einstein@home
GPUGrid.net
LHC@home
Milkyway@home
Rosetta@home

All projects have default Computer Preferences.
I confirmed the attachments and Computer Preferences several times.

Only Asteroids@home is showing work in the BOINC screensaver.

This is not what I signed up for. I want to see work in the other projects. They all have work available.

What is wrong here? What do I need to do?

GPU grid, you may need to get drivers from whichever manufacturer your GPU is from rather than the ones Microsoft gives you. That sometimes needs repeating after Windows updates. LHC at home, may need virtual box installed as well as BOINC. There may be other projects that only have GPU work available that requires either the right GPU or the right driver.

CPDN does not have any work right now. There has been some activity in the testing branch but the last batch of Windows tasks ran out about two weeks ago or a little more. I have little knowledge of some of the projects and I don't know what any of them have in the way of Windows tasks. If they have something close tot he default BOINC server setup you can look at the server status page to see what type of tasks they have. CPDN has different types of task for different operating systems.

The best thing to do is to go to the individual project forums where they will be able to tell you in more detail exactly what you need to get tasks up and running from them.

WuProp has a list of Active BOINC projects in the last 24 hours that users of it's service/app are reporting...
Link
It's broken down by Type of Apps within each Project.

Another place to see what type of apps are at each Project is the BOINC PROJECTS LIST.

Edit to add NOT ALL PROJECT HAVE SCREEN SAVER.

Thanks for the tips. I went to GPUGRID and asked if my driver is sufficient. I will await their reply. If not complaint I will drop the project. I am not changing my computer for a project.

I do have the Virtual Box (not sure how I got it).

I checked my other projects, they seem to have work.

I do have the Virtual Box (not sure how I got it).
The download link for the Windows version of BOINC has two downloads for each version one with VB and a much smaller one without. Those of us who have defenestrated have to install VB separately.

Message 113107 - Posted: 15 Nov 2023, 18:49:58 UTC - in response to Message 113104.

I am totally frustrated.

I am attached to eight projects, all set to computer default configurations to attempt to avoid any problems.

The only project showing up in the BOINC screensaver is Asteroids@home where I am doing good work.

But I want to know what is happening with the other projects. I have searched their web pages and cannot find any where to see any results or the lack of results.

How do I check on these other projects?

I did message GPUGRID about my GPU driver to see if it is sufficient but they have not replied.

I do have Virtual box installed.

Working on only project is not what I signed up for.

If I cannot resolve these issues I will simply say good-bye.

I hope someone can help me clear up these issues.

Thanks.

The place to get answers really is the individual projects fora. I only know CPDN in any detail and I know there is no work there bar the possible occasional resend but many batches have been closed there in the past couple of days so there will not be so many of them and any there are will be snapped up right away. All the forums are looked after mainly by volunteer moderators as is this one so response times will vary. At the moment as well as a team of moderators CPDN has one of the scientists following their forums closely so answers come quickly. Some projects you have to be more patient. World Community Grid (WCG) does not have the range of different types of work it used to at the moment but I have been getting a steady supply of work from there while waiting for CPDN to give me more either from the testing branch or main site. Prime Grid never ran out of work while I was connected to it. LHC@home, on Linux I had to jump through quite a few hoops before I got any tasks to run successfully. I don't know if that is easier with Windows? Some projects have some task types you have to opt in to rather than you being open to all unless you opt out. Checking that may help with some.

Other than that all I can say is to repeat my suggestion of going to the individual project websites after checking what messages you get in the event log immediately after updating the individual project. (About updating, some projects have an automatic time out after you have done an update. (CPDN you have to wait just over an hour.

GPUGrid is ONLY for modern NVIDIA gpus. You need at least series 525 drivers. The only work available is the ATMbeta application which means you MUST enable beta/test applications in your Project Preferences.

Read the limitations on this work in the main ATMbeta thread in News section.

https://www.gpugrid.net/prefs.php?subset=project

https://www.gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=5379

You will not receive any direct response from the project admins, only a response in the ATMbeta thread I linked.

BOINC Manager -> View ->Advanced view -> Tasks tab. You can check which Projects have work here, and which are being worked on.

As I mentioned in a few posts further up:
NOT ALL PROJECT HAVE SCREEN SAVER.

Not only that, the screen saver is taking away a small amount of CPU time that can be used by the active task run.

* If I also remember correctly, if the GPU is in use by a project task, there's no screen saver.

I am now attached to eight projects:

Asteroids@home
Climateprediction.net
Einstein@home
GPUGrid.net
LHC@home
Milkyway@home
Rosetta@home
World Community Grid

Yet I am still only seeing work done at Asteroids@home.
Default Computer Preferences have a "Switch between tasks every 60 minutes". Does this refer to only tasks within one project or switching to other projects? I checked to see if the projects have work and found available work at the other projects.

So, why not work being done for other projects?

Thanks.

Climate is a waste of energy, CO2 levels drop any lower most life could end. We are about 417 and should be 10x that to turn everything green

Then how come the level was about 280 before the start of the industrial revolution? Appears to have been plenty of life about then, enough to support an agricultural society.

An approximate 40% increase in the CO2 level in the past 75 years is not natural - it’s the rate of change, not the absolute level, that will kill us.

I have no issues getting work from WCG and GPUGrid. All you have to do is ask for work and you shall be rewarded. Set up a cron job, watch command, Windows task scheduler, PowerShell script or whatever favorite script to ping each project with a update command every 5-15 minutes and you get rewarded with work.

Can everyone please keep this chatter about the climate outside this thread, and concentrate on helping the OP with his problem, instead of immediately trying to fix global problems as well?

Edit to add...
According to the project website they only have 2 subprojects currently active (but plenty of tasks for each):
ECM - is a program for Elliptic Curve Factorization which is used by a couple of projects to find factors for different kind of numbers.
Siever - This subproject produces Sieve Files for the CRUS-project. We are sieving for Riesel/Sierpinski to b conjectures where b<1030. (Form: k*bn-/+1). Sieve files are needed to start testing for primes.
