Hi there,

I cant make sense of neither the statistics nor their axes in the Boinc Manager. The documentation (https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Advanced_view#The_Statistics_tab) describes it as follows:

Show user total: Shows your credit totals for each project.
Show user average: Shows your credit averages for each project.
Show host total: Shows this computer's credit totals for each project.
Show host average: Shows this computer's credit averages for each project.

I don't understand this description because I only use one computer, shouldn't therefore the host and user values be the same?

Could someone explain to me what the statistics show?

Thanks
A

Yes but with some caveats.
1. I run Windows tasks on my Linux computer using WINE and the Windows client. This shows as a second computer.

Most computers I have owned, I have done at different times a clean install of an updated operating system. The fresh install shows as a new computer.

It is possible on project websites to use the <merge computers> link to do as the name suggests. There may be times when this doesn't work depending on the differences between OS versions. If you only merge on some projects and not others, then the host total will not match the user total.

Edit: I don't know if the merge hosts is available on all projects.

It may be that the host and user sections of the database from where the data is retrieved are not updated at the same time. So one may lack some data that the other already has.

That isn't my experience with CPDN but it may work differently with other projects.

Thanks for your responses. I'm not sure whether this can explain it because the axes show completely different values:

    User total: 7,750,000,000 - 7,830,000,000
    Host total: 265,000 - 295,000

Is the unit maybe different between these two?

What do you see on the project website for you and your computer? Is there also same difference? Do you see any other computers listed there? Check also the list for 'All computers', not just the active in past 30 days.

I am using Science United, so I can't track single projects. But thanks for the hint! It seems as the User Total is the total of Science United and the Host total is probably what I contributed...

Thanks all!
