Hi. I am new to BOINC, and it seems like a really interesting project I'd really like to take part in. However, one major issue I've noticed is that you have to manually set your preferences (usage limits on the CPU, storage, etc) for every project you join.

I'd like to participate in as many as 6 or 7 projects at a time, but this, admittedly more minor, inconvenience would get pretty annoying if I was able or unable to withstand more load on my system.

Because of this, I was wondering if it was possible to sync the preferences between multiple projects or at least export your preferences to a file to easily load between all projects.

Again, this is all relatively minor in the grand scheme of BOINC, but it is a roadblock for me to participating in more projects and helping out more people.

You can set global limits to CPU usage, storage etc. in BOINC manager that will give a total limit. In theory all projects should have a resource share of 100 if you don't change them so long term work should get distributed evenly among projects though short term this often isn't the case.

Also, you can set your web preferences on your first project and designate that is the preference set all new hosts inherit. BOINC propagates the last changed set of preferences to all projects when contacted also.

Preferences set through BOINC manager are local and for that one computer only, although they are used by all projects one added.

The global computing preferences via the website are as the name implies global, set at one project, they will propagate to all others on the same venue/location by being contacted by BOINC. That has always worked this way, I wouldn't know why it still wouldn't.

Not sure if I understand the question, but if you create a Boinc BAM account on boincstats.com, for most projects, you can set affinity.
Most projects have a 100 affinity.
You can increase or decrease this affinity.
if one project is set to 100 affinity, and another 1000, means that Boinc will try to roughly do 10x more WUs on other project.
Likewise, if you have a third project, and set it to 10, boinc will process roughly 10x less WUs than of the first project.
