I just installed the new version on BOINC and it says it can't communicate because I'm using the wrong username or password, but I don't see anywhere in the BOINC Manager where I can reload this info? This only happened on one of the 4 computers I'm running. The others all started up fine.

What is trying to communicate with what? Is the the Manager - the control interface - trying to communicate with the client - the workers behind the scenes on your computer. Or is the client trying to communicate with a project over the internet?

Richard. Never mind. After reloading the software again it seems to be working fine now. Don't know what happened.

Well I spoke to soon. My one computer is down again. When I start the Boinc Manager I get the Boinc Manager - Communication box telling me it is trying to commect to the client.
Then on my projects page I see my four projects appear for just a second. This is followed by them disappearing and data start to flash on that page, followed by a new box that says.

Boinc Manager - connection error
The password you have provided is incorrect - Please try again.

So I don't know where my Boinc manager stores this information, but it must be corrupted. How do I tell my local program what my password is so it can connect?

I do not believe the password is wrong. I think this is a false error message.

I've seen that flashing of the screen and (repeated) partial loading of the display in BOINC Manager just recently. It was caused by setting one of the very aggressive Event Log options - the Manager simply couldn't cope with the flood of information being sent by the client.

Shut everything down, and find your BOINC data directory - by default, at C:\ProgramData\BOINC. Look for a file called cc_config.xml - it's an optional file, so it may not be there. If you haven't got one, we'll have to go back and think again.

If it's there, you could simply rename it so it can't be found. If BOINC then starts normally, we've found the problem.

Or you could look inside it with a plain text editor. The Event Log settings are at the top. The one which killed it for me was <gui_rpc_debug>. If that line is present and set to 1, change it to 0 - worked for me.

Hello,

Had the same problem with the new update.

Could not connect to client errors.

I tried renaming the "cc_config" file and everything is back up and running.

Let's give it a day to 2 to make sure that was the fix?

Cheers & Thank-you

I found and renamed the old_cc_config.xml file and restarted my computer. When BOINC restarted it worked right away and when I looked back in the BOINC folder my renamed file was gone.I don't know where it went?

We'll see if this works.

Thanks.

Hello,

Well, Boinc did connect to the client and is back up and running.

But...…

All LHC projects running vbox64 are now showing computational errors after 22 - 25 sec of run time.

Checked all my preferences on my LHC account and they look right.

Oye….reaching for the power bar switch...

Reboot and installed latest version of vbox 64 (6.1.6)

Seems to be running OK now.
