Now that the Winter Olympics and the PrimeGrid Mountain stage marathon are over, maybe everyone can get some rest and return here tomorrow bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

You sure it wasn't a lady walking over a bridge with a tee shirt resembling your license plate on it?

Feeling Silly: VB issues with Rosetta. Posted on their fora but no reply as yet.

Task aaam-ABU-PHE_pp-mNMABU-AMACBEN2_13_2375631_2_0 postponed for 86400 seconds: Communication with VM Hypervisor failed.

Tried, installing Windows version of BOINC with VB under WINE. As I expected, it didn't work. Nor did installing the stand alone Windows version of VB - again, the expected result!

Virtual Box is fussy unless everything is 100% and will throw weird error messages.

You will be waiting forever for a reply from a Rosetta Admin, hopefully another user here or there will see your post and has a fix.

Fix is to shut BOINC stopping tasks and wait for the system to kill them (a few seconds) Restart BOINC and wait for the next time BOINC switches science tasks. Rinse. Repeat.
There is some communication failure between BOINC, the VM and the science task. Someone either isn't getting the message or it is delayed and by the time it is delivered the assumption has been made it is never coming.
PS It isn't just Rosetta, it is every project that uses virtual box.
IIRC there is some discussion of it over on LHC.

Strange, some years ago, I ran climate@home and while sometimes buggy, I never had VB problems.

Star loses $500,000 NFT after crooks exploit Rarible market
Miscreants exploited a now-fixed design flaw in the Rarible NFT marketplace to steal a non-fungible token from Taiwanese singer and actor Jay Chou and sell it for about $500,000.

I am assuming the OpenIFS ARM tasks in testing from CPDN need a Pi or similar and won't run on my phone!

Just seen this confirmed on email list.

David and Andy have both posted in email list. Phone no chance. Pi possibly but tasks are for a specific embedded chip so only chance of running these is under emulation.

A proof of concept test. I was told it had been difficult to get going when I offered to run tasks under emulation and further tasks were not anticipated in the near future.

Interesting difference between projects. CPDN gives a massive slowdown as number of tasks increases to the point where bringing in virtual cores gives no benefit (at least on current task types.) TN-Grid on the other hand, no noticeable slow down when using all 16 cores (8 real.)

Never been much of an 'Apple' product fan, but the iPod did kill off the Sony Walkman and revolutionized how we listened to music.

First posting session from Lisbon, Portugal - after three solid days of rail travel. Now, breakfast - a rare luxury!

Then it's a good thing I canceled my possible long weekend trip to the UK to bring my C64 to someone in Norwich and then do a fast swing by you to see how things were going.
