Hi there,
I'm running BOINC app on my Android phone and wanted to run it also on my Surface Pro 7 laptop with Windows 10. I tried both modes (as Windows service and the other one) but without success.

When I check status of BOINC Windows service it says "stopped", I can start it but it crashes soon. The BOINC manager says theBOINC client exited unexpectedly 3 times in last two minues or so.

I searched for some logs but couldn't find anything interesting.

In C:\ProgramData\BOINC found files:
stdoutdae -> https://pastebin.com/ubjprBty
stderrdae -> https://pastebin.com/SCWhE77J

Found some Windows service logs but not very helpful too: https://pastebin.com/urwJA8NU

All the files in AppData\Roaming\BOINC are empty.

Is there any other place I can find some logs indicating what happened?

I'm using BOINC version 7.1.42, my OS is Windows 10 with all updates installed. CPU is Core i5-1035G4 and the integrated graphics is Intel Iris Plus Graphics.

Any clues?

I think you typoed on the BOINC version number, but anyway, you should run the latest version which is 7.14.2 for Windows 10.

I don't think your i5 is one of the ultra low power cpus that has a problem with BOINC, but maybe it does.

Looking at your MS report, that actually looks likely. The bug report is here: https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/issues/2470
The solution is to download the 32 bit version of BOINC.

Actually, you should be able to run -

either the 32-bit version of v7.14.2
or the 64-bit version of v7.16.4 (or later)

Thanks for the clarification Richard.

But I don't see 7.16.4 on the Download page yet. Refreshed the page and still not showing.

It's a beta and it was retracted due to big bugs.

We'd rather not have people use it due to the (AMD) GPU detection bug, so please don't link to it either.

I guess those of us who are desperate enough to really want it can make the effort. I don't have any GPU's capable of running tasks so not an issue for me.

Thank you for your help. Yes, version 7.1.42 is my typo - posted stdoutdae shows correct version 7.14.2.

The issue on GitHub you mentioned contains reference to another issue reported for CPU from the same family - i5-1035G1, whereas mine is i5-1035G4: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=84998 so it seems it's the same known problem with LIBEAY32.dll.

I guess I could try the 32-bit version.

Thank you again.
