Hi, I had BOINC installed on a USB stick and it was damaged and I no longer have access to the BOINC files saved on it. I am trying to reinstall BOINC and I receive a message Error 1327: Invalid Drive D.

I have done a search of all my drives (minus the D drive which the USB stick was installed in) to try to remove any BOINC files left but I have a few files that I cannot remove so I don't know if those are part of the problem.

How do I fix this error message so that I can reinstall BOINC?

Thanks for the help.

Some USB sticks have a limited life and just die, but this doesn't sound like that.
Can you actually read the contents of the sick, or is it totally locked up? Also check you can write to the drive (try creating a short text file)

This is likely to be an error resulting from the Windows installer's memory of where the the last version of BOINC was installed to. (You did say you were running Windows, didn't you?)

Use the Windows Registry Editor 'regedit' to navigate to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Berkeley\BOINC Setup]

and remove any references to drive D:

There'll probably be two:

"INSTALLDIR"="D:\\BOINC\\"
"DATADIR"="D:\\BOINCdata\\"

Hi All,

Thank you all for your help. I was able to reach someone who was able to help me. The USB stick I was using actually broke so there was no way to access the data. What was suggested (and worked) is that I just insert 2nd USB stick and then try to install BOINC and it worked.

This has been solved and is complete.
