I've been given a Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. It's running stock android 9 & has been factory reset. The only app I've installed is Boinc & have logged in to both Asteroids & Rosetta (the 2 projects I run on my ratbag collection of old tech).

There are no tasks. It's getting no tasks at all & hasn't since I logged into it. My other tech running those projects are chewing thru tasks & getting new ones with no issues.

The log out put says "no tasks sent". It's asking for them, but not getting anything in return. Curiously, when I look at the stats page for the phone on the Asteroids or Rosetta site, it comes up with a blank CPU reading. It says there's 8 processors, but no detail about what type of CPU it is (my other tech comes up with ARM or Intel CPU, etc). It's just blank.

Anyone run into this before?

Hi, Jedistocky, I believe the only BOINC Android supported CPU's are ARM's and the Asus has a Qualcomm. See : https://www.devicespecifications.com/en/model-cpu/952f49f5

Hope this helps.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon is an ARM style CPU.

Companies that have designed chips with ARM cores include Amazon.com's Annapurna Labs subsidiary,[37] Analog Devices, Apple, AppliedMicro (now: MACOM Technology Solutions[38]), Atmel, Broadcom, Cypress Semiconductor, Freescale Semiconductor (now NXP Semiconductors), Huawei, Maxim Integrated, Nvidia, NXP, Qualcomm, Renesas, Samsung Electronics, ST Microelectronics, Texas Instruments and Xilinx.

The blanking of the CPU name is somewhat normal, it shouldn't affect operations, as long as the bitness of the CPU and the operating system (Android) are the same.

Running a 64bit CPU with 32bit Android can give problems with certain project's science applications.

The only projects that I've been able to run on Android 9 are Einstein and WUProp. Asteroids and Universe will not send out tasks. YoYo and Moo Wrapper tasks will instantly fail. Rosetta rarely has Android tasks and the sole Android 9 I have has never had one. WCG ran out of tasks a while ago and it'll be months before any more are available. Seti, no idea if it works or not.

Talking about Universe@home,when my Tablet updated to Android 9 it completed all of the Universe tasks that were running and they were all validated.
