This wonderful project is BOINC!

I started 20 years ago with this modest project: Seti @ home,
When I did not use my computer, I had an animation like screenserver. A nice animated graphic against a few kiloflops.

Today some graphics are displayed (not often) and the fan of the machine blows as if he had pneumonia. Boinc takes all the resources he can and ... in return: nothing.

I will not even talk about Word Community Grid animations that do not reach the craziest cartoon of the 1970s.

If you want something, give us something in exchange.

Graphics or the lack of them is down to the individual projects. CPDN gave up on them a while ago now and the person who had the interest in programming them is no longer with the project. I don't know the basis on which other projects decide whether to include graphics or not but the programming skills/interests of individuals may well be part of it.
