When attempting to update my BOINC Installation, on my Win 10 PC, I get an error that a "feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable".

The BOINC.msi package is downloaded to C:\Windows\Downloaded Installations\{DB9C64E6-2FA3-45F2-8F8E-26A1BEBB28E9}\

But I keep getting the error, even if I select the downloaded file, that no valid source file can be found.

This is happening because your computer has lost track of the previous installer file, which is needed to remove the old version of BOINC prior to installing the new one.

There is a long FAQ on the subject: the simplest way is usually to re-install the version that you were using before, which puts everything back in the expected place so that the new installer can find it.

Downloaded Version 7.12.1 and started the install. Got an error message that a portion of a file could not be accessed because it was being
used by another process.

After trying 3 times I now get message from the InstallShield Wizard

Unable to save file C:\\WINDOWS|Downloaded Installations|EB573524-9B18-4288-8ACA-7DOA71.

Then a comment saying basically the same as above.

In regards to the previous post, I also tried re-installing Version 7.10.2 but get the same messages.

Thanks. I did that and it worked. Have 7.10.2 running again.

Am going to download 7.12.1 again and retry installing it.

Will post results.

Reinstalled 7.12.1 and it is up and running. Don't know what happened yesterday but the install got hung up on "registering fonts".
