the full screen thing was already brought up once 5 years ago in this thread: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=8450

the screen saver argument doesnt really hold up, basically no one is using them anymore. personally, i havent heard or thought about screen savers in 10+ years, until boinc forced one on me earlier this year. i dont think it should be enabled by default anymore and i'd really like it if i didnt have to manually suspend the gpu every time i want to play a game or watch a video (choppy playback with some projects). i dont want to suspend the gpu when im using my computer, only when im doing either of those 2 things, but if i suspend it manually, half the time i forget to turn it back on again. can the decision to not include this feature, as well as enabling the screen saver by default be reconsidered please?

1. You can disable the use of the screen saver in the installer (in the third screen, click Advanced, then uncheck 'use BOINC screen saver") when you next upgrade/install BOINC, or in Windows (Personalize->Screen Saver->set to anything but BOINC, or to None.

2. What you request re: suspending GPU when a game runs is already built in.
Open BOINC Manager->(View->Advanced view->)Options->Exclusive Applications. Here you can set which programs suspend BOINC completely when certain programs run, or suspend GPU computing when certain programs run.

This requires that BOINC runs Activity based on preferences.

1. i know how to disable the screensaver, my point is that in 2018 it shouldnt be enabled by default anymore. making this opt-in instead of opt-out would be more user friendly.

2. yes i can list every single one of my 100+ games installed but thats quite a hassle and it wont help with running browser videos on fullscreen. if there was simply a checkbox to disable the gpu on fullscreen, that would be a lot more user friendly imo.
