Hey Folks,

I searched and did not find the answer. I get the above error when trying to launch BOINCManager after installing 7.12.0 on macOS Sierra 10.12.6 . I had an older version that worked and BOINC said there is a new version. I tried uninstall, manually removing prefs and the data folder, installing as root, and manualling setting permissions at the command prompt.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Robert

Try running the Mac_SA_Secure.sh command-line shell script.
Also try to redownload the installer, in case it got corrupted somehow.

Hello,

The comments in the script are not clear on in which directory I should run the script. Ran it in .../BOINCManager.app/Contents and got a message about not finding the switcher app.

In what directory should I run the script?

Thanks,
Robert
PS: Had already re downloaded and have tried the install 7.12.0 as well and it does not install and does not give an error. The installer just crashes.

Thank you for pointing this out. It should say
Execute this as root in the BOINC Data directory
which is at "/Library/Application Support/BOINC Data". Have you tried installing the "older version" 7.10.3 on this page? Also, try restarting your computer after the installation (though that probably won't help if the installer crashed.)

Wow, better support than I get for some of my Pro apps.

The script seems to have worked in the Data directory, I can now launch 7.12.0 . I have not tried the screensaver yet, but am hopeful.

Thanks Again,
Robert
