Or of course more sensibly it could be moved to the side of the road to be worked on. |

It hasn't been blocking the road, it's been in the garage all this time. :) |

If your car was blocking the road for three months a la CPDN - your car would have long been towed off the road and thrown into a junkyard. As CPDN should! ;-)Except it was a bootiful car ;) and only a hundred had been made - and when I needed to sell it a year or so later, I was offered considerably more than I'd paid for it, sight unseen (even though I'd admitted it wouldn't start and hadn't been driven for months) and I've never seen a car more lovingly ensconced onto a transporter ... no... I haven't :) And anyway... I'd like to join the CPDN project, and I'm not sure I want it to be in a junkyard :) |

Tell that to Seti, who bring the whole project down every Tuesday for a full system backup. Tell that to Einstein, who regularly bring everything down for a full system backup. Tell that to WCG, who regularly bring everything down for a full system backup. There's probably other projects who do it. And especially if you have no slave server ready, in case anything goes wrong, best bring everything down. I still haven't seen you post on their forums during the time they were up, with neither of your accounts. May I ask that you stop with the attacks (again)? |

I must say, in my last post before this one I baited you. My apologies for that. However, the way you talked back wasn't very nice. I'm giving you an official warning for that. I only warn once. The next time, without warning, your posting abilities will be revoked for whatever time I or another moderator finds necessary. Please remain civil in all your answers, and if you cannot, then please find another forums where they can tolerate your outbursts and choice of language. |

And there are now just short of 10K tasks showing on the server status. I have just downloaded 3 of a new batch. |

Down again?Yes. It was another planned and scheduled outage to take a database backup. Edit - backup is now complete and project should be back online. |

For the people with the problem that on the "get password" link they don't get a new temporary login link sent: David Wallom wrote: The problem has been identified that the university SMTP server has been reconfigured to not allow sending from non university domains. Therefore I have a ticket in to ask to have CPDN.org added to the list of approved senders.. |

Down again?Yes. It was another planned and scheduled outage to take a database backup. Hi Richard -- Am I missing where/when these planned outages are announced? |

There's a pair of posts further down this thread, at 12th and 13th July. I don't know where or when there's been other posts. Too much happening to remember. (It will be every Thursday.) Perhaps if I try to remember to post in the cpdn News section/thread? edit And a reminder about this latest downtime was in the New work thread on cpdn. edit 2 There's now a post about this in the cpdn News section. |

Posted at 13:14 UK time today: We will be taking the project offline today at 13:00 (UK time) in order to take a database backup. (Edit - to be fair, Andy sent it out 30 minutes before the outage started, but it spent 45 minutes stuck in the Oxford University email handling system) |

The database is back up at 15:24 UK time. That gives us a reasonable benchmark of 2 hours 30 minutes for future outages. |

It's Thursday, so they're down for a backup again. They really ought to borrow SETI's standing outage script! |

And now back up again. |
