Hi, is it possibile to disable the screensaver graphics for just one project? The Mindmodeling@home screensaver flickers terribly (and I don't like it too much to begin with), so I'd like to disable it while keeping the others I have (World Community Grid, Einstein@home... ) enabled. Latest BOINC version on Windows 10 Thanks! |

Well, if you put a dummy file there, is BOINC going to handle that gracefully? I suppose you could put something else there with the project graphics executable. I just wonder if the project is going to be okay with that or is going to try and replace it. Not sure how BOINC handles a file version that isn't recognized... |

delete the graphics executible from the subject project folder, though I fear the project will redownload if the exe is missing. Maybe a dummy placeholder? Won't work, BOINC will re-downloaded the graphics app in both cases. For the OP, the only way to do it is to use Anonymous platform mechanism (app_info.xml) which basically replaces the science app the project sends you but that comes with the burden of keeping it up-to-date. |

Actually, there is another way besides app_info.xml. Simply remove or deny execute file system permission from the graphics app. Read permission is still required so that the client can check the file. |
