I've been trying to run Quake work alongside other projects.
It loads and slowly progresses but no time done shows,as yet. I had to abort some earlier work for same reason- hitting deadline.
The screensaver is working ok :) but on it no work complete time to match what is in manager 0.234 %
System is XP with nVidia GPU working fine.
Boinc 7.8.2 X86
LOG below -covering some Quake activity.
I have plenty of disc space available, btw.Showing 120MB available to Boinc.
[392MB in use by Boinc]
PS:
I wasn't sure if I needed a sensor or whether this would just be processing work.
In any case on checking none were available.
I assume if work downloads it can run.

Reading the QCN home page it would appear you do need a sensor to become active, but you can have the software without a sensor. I doubt that the software will do anything useful without a sensor.

Yes, I learned that some laptops are fitted with inbuilt accelerometers.
All the same you'd think some smart people could kinda make it more clear -
especially as the [wrong] memory error message is wasted.

QCN is a NCI, Non-CPU-Intensive project. Long as there's an recognisable accilerometer in the device, it will work and use 1-2% of one thread. My laptop and tablet have one ** and run/ran them about 6 hours per task, report and get a new one. The time between reporting and getting a new one is a prohibited timeframe for quakes to occur ;o).

The log BTW says, you haven't got 'plenty of disk-space'. It says, 0 is available and 95MB more is needed to get a task. If a task were to be assigned, you'd see it in the Tasks tab of the BOINC Manager, advanced view.

** Removed from tablet as it was draining the battery really quick.

I saw from Boinc Mgr that 120MB was available to the prog.
Anyhow, it seems not to a subject for the Boinc forum -as that is meant to cover less project orientated posts.
I have seen a few here and there, though.
I rechecked and new sensors are not going out.
Thanks for your inputs.

Another aspect while the project support Android it is only a fairly old version. Current versions of the Android OS are not supported and will not produce usable work. Forum treads that have been submitted are not being responded to. The appearance is that unless the current Admin is getting some sort of payment by some one he is in caretaker mode.
