I installed BOINC a couple of days ago on my MacBook Pro. Not surprisingly, the fan(s) really cranked up using the default configuration. I want to keep my MacBook Pro online running BOINC, contributing to the cause, but not pushing this laptop at full tilt. I've been dialing down the 'Use at most x% CPU time', it's now set at 5%. While using the laptop all quiet, but when I leave the laptop the fans are really cranking away when I come back! I understand that that during that 5% time period the cpus will be cranking away but that shouldn't warrant fans running all the time.

Any feedback, guidance, is appreciated.

Regards,

Don

@Don did that fix your problem? As for me, I'm still having a problem with 2 mac book pros even though I've got the Activity menu set to "run based on computing preferences," and "Use at most" set to 1% CPU Time. This used to work fine (at 13% CPU limit) for I don't know how many years, but now both laptops are fanning away like airplanes.

Has the idea of CPU Time recently changed?
