I was asked to post this here.

I have seen tasks in the "Waiting for memory" state. That, by itself is puzzling, as, according to RAMMap there are usually 4-5 gig unused, the issue is that when they go into that state, they are obviously not running, but they do not seem to release their CPU. Both my machines here have i7 processors and therefore should be running 8 tasks, but I have seen this reduced by the number of jobs in the state. Why does a process which cannot run not release the CPU so that others can?

Some of the tasks have been running for some hours, it is not like they are not starting. I see it most often at Einstein, but have seen it once at either yoyo or Citizen Science, don't recall which it was.
