Some people don't know where their mouth ends & their butt starts.

So we can expect to see attacks against China & North Korea then...

Politiicans & their words :-(

9/10 they don't stop & think first.

Post Brexit offer for EU citizens

"All EU nationals lawfully resident for at least five years will be able to apply for "settled status"

Here's a question for you Missus May.

Does that mean that ALL EU citizens that meet "that" requirement have to apply for settled staus even if their residency even predates the date that Britain joined the EEC?

:-) Not me, I've no problem with it. However what with what has been happening in this country this year, find it sad that "those" in authority argue over who is & who isn't wearing a ...ing tie!

Something that is really none of my business, but was made my business, has been niggling at me for a few days, so today (which will probably be yesterday by the time I've finished writing this) I decided to make an initial enquiry as to whether I should be letting it niggle at me at all, and the person I spoke to at the Disclosure and Barring Service (part of the Home Office charged with applying the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman principles of good administration - apparently) seemed to think I was very right to be niggled by it because it sounded like an abuse of power and a perversion of something I can't quite remember now. So all that remains is whether I should go to the trouble of putting my niggle into writing, or not. Of course that doesn't mean anything would necessarily come of it, and what with everything else on my plate that has to be given precedence, it might not be until next week that I get round to it anyway - or even the week after. I just wish I hadn't been so appalled by the development when it was originally revealed to me :( whether it was true or not, because it might not have bothered me quite as much as it has :/

Anyway - that's as far as I've been following any politics for awhile now.

Knowing your walls of text, I wonder if I should feel sorry for the addressee. ;-)

They are walls frequently, yes. It's like - when I learned how to write, I didn't learn how to stop, a bit like when I learned to skate :)

yes... short as it was ... it did need an edit two edits... so what? ;)

Je n'ai fait celle-ci plus longue que parce que je n'ai pas eu le loisir de la faire plus courte.
Blaise Pascal, Provincial Letters: Letter XVI (4 December 1656)

I would have written a shorter letter, but I did not have the time.

niggle or naggle
One of those days where everything conspires against you. Always some person in a car going just slow enough to make you catch the red light. Internet crashing just when you need it for business reasons. Urgent need yesterday repair parts on back-order. Alternate supplier wants 4X the cost of the part to ship it slow boat, and 15X to overnight it! Huge major carry everything stores that don't carry everything. Just a gawd awful day, one designed to raise your blood pressure.

OB CNN exclusive tape of prez meeting the very same Russians Jr met years later. Tell me again they don't know a foreign agent?

Make America weak again, it will be easy to tRump it then.

Oui :) exactement *run out of relevant French* except he was remembered for more than just verbosity ;)

@Sirius
If it's been welcomed by the groups it hopes will feel more included, maybe it's not too PC. Children also get side lined by the "ladies and gentlemen" stuff. For complete political correctness - people with autism would need their first name specifically mentioned to know the message might be for them as well :) Of course they won't once it's been explained to them not to listen out for it - so perhaps there's no need to go that far... ;)

edit: I had a late thought... you can have it now too... :)

It can be very difficult to equate the term "ladies and gentlemen" when travelling by public transport to any of us really - especially during rush hour. They may as well call us all sardines sometimes... for accuracy...

Message 79779 - Posted: 25 Jul 2017, 21:26:00 UTC - in response to Message 79778.

It's highlighted two issues that afflict politics world wide.

"And our arcane rules and customs"

"Our deliberations today – not just our debates, but the exercise of all our responsibilities – authorizing government policies, appropriating the funds to implement them, exercising our advice and consent role – are often lively and interesting. They can be sincere and principled. But they are more partisan, more tribal more of the time than any other time I remember. Our deliberations can still be important and useful, but I think we’d all agree they haven’t been overburdened by greatness lately. And right now they aren’t producing much for the American people."

It's no longer about governing & running a nation as efficiently as possible but all about their little "exclusive" club & grabbing a slice of the pie.
