I have been having an issue that hot corners do not keep screen saver on since the update to os sierra 10.12, but now after the update to 10.12.4 when I click the notices button in either advanced or simple view, it just opens the web browser and goes to a page that dose not exist.

I asked the developer for the Mac, he is unable to reproduce the problem because his hardware is too old to run OS X 10.12
So, in all honesty, we don't know how to fix this. It's probably something is OS X 10.12 that's doing this, as it didn't do it in previous versions and BOINC didn't change. So, ask at Mac forums?

Which version of OS X are your running? Is it OS 10.12.4 or an earlier version? And which projects are you running? I am trying to determine if it is due to OS 10.12.4 or due to a problematic notice.

I was able to open the page a few days ago and then google chrome (I assume it's not safari) gives me that message'.

I am on a macbook retna early 1913

i hope this can be reset somehow I keep getting alerts from BONIC telling me I have in fact I have one now.

fingers crossed

I don't understand your reply. See what below? Are you saying that you (Joan Tarshis) are the same poster as twmuse?
You have not answered my questions. Which version of OS X are you running, and which projects are you running? I can't help you without this information.
To determine the version of OS X, select About this Mac from the Apple menu.
To determine which projects you are running, in BOINC's Advanced View click on the Projects tab; they are listed in the left column.

Thank you for writing. Did the problem start at the same time you upgraded to OS 10.12.4, or before or after that? Was it ever working correctly with OS 10.12.4? I'm trying to determine whether the problem is due to a change from OS 10.12.3 to 10.12.4, or it if it might be due to a faulty notice from a project that occurred at about the same time as the upgrade.

Thanks

Could it have to do with the default browser, Charlie? That the OS set a different browser as default browser, but not everything is following that, and that the user has to set it up separately as well?

I'm still not sure if this problem now happens as soon as people click the Notices tab, or after they open the tab and try to follow a notice.

I have learned that the upgrade of OS X to OS 10.12.4 on 27 March also upgraded the Safari browser to Safari 10.1. Apple's WebKit, which is used by Safari to display HTML code, was also replaced with a new version at that time. BOINC uses WebKit on the Mac to display the Notices, which are coded using HTML.

I have found a number of reports of problems with Safari 10.1 on line, so I now suspect this is being caused by a bug (or at least by a change) in WebKit. It may be best to wait a bit and see if Apple releases another Safari update.

First not the same poster as Joan Tarshis

First issue with hot corners not working for all Boinc projects (it is something with the manager) has happened ever since 10.12.0, all other screen savers work fine, just Boinc "wakes" as soon as it starts the screen saver. I have resigned this to never being looked at or fixed, it has been there a long time now.

Second "Notices" problem, really has nothing to do with what browser is being used, I set Safari,Firefox,Safari tech preview, to default and it is all the same. The problem is with the Boinc managers notices button. Before the 10.12.4 update, I would see I had notices on the notices button, click on it and the Boinc manager would display the messages right there (with links to load more that would open a web browser). Now when you click the notices button it jumps to opening the web browser to a page that does not exist.

Seems to be the problem. It looks like webkit sees the attempt to display the notices tab as a URL address and it obviously can't load it. It will launch the default browser in trying and pass the nonexistent URL. I haven't looked to see if Apple changed the API, but that wouldn't surprise me and an additional argument needs to be passed or set to some magic value where it didn't care before, or some new initialization call made.

I am having the same problem. OS X 10.12.4
I am running pogs, Einstein, LHC, SETI and ATLAS.
(For others following this thread, although my Mac is too old to run OS 10.12, I was able to upgrade to Safari 10.1 under OS 10.11.6, and this also upgraded the WebKit Framework. Although I attached to the same 5 projects, I could not reproduce the problem, so I sent a private message to The Science Mic asking him to compress his /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data/notices/ directory and email me the zip file.)

When I substituted your Notices directory for mine and selected the Notices tab in BOINC Manager, BOINC reported:
There are no notices at this time.
On further investigation, i found that the following 5 files were missing from your Notices folder:
    feeds_atlasathome.cern.ch.xml
    feeds_einstein.phys.uwm.edu.xml
    feeds_lhcathome.cern.ch_lhcathome.xml
    feeds_pogs.theskynet.org_pogs.xml
    feeds_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml

Did you remove these from the directory you sent me, or are they actually missing from your BOINC Data? If they are actually missing, you can get BOINC to create them again by doing the following:
In the Advanced View's Projects tab, select each project and click on Update for each project. Wait for the Event Log to report Scheduler request completed for all projects. Then, in Finder, browse to the Notices directory and confirm that the 5 files have been created. A short time later, BOINC should create one additional file named feeds.xml. After I did this, my Notices tab correctly displayed the notices.

Once you have all these files, please click on the Notices tab in BOINC Manager again, and let me know what, if any, difference that made on your system, and also whether or not the 5 feeds_*.xml files are still present. I'm also trying to understand why they were missing from your BOINC Data.

Thank you for your help in analyzing these problems with BOINC.

Charlie,
Just checked my Mac (10.12.4) and the feeds are present in the notices folder, and the actual messages are also present. Still opens Safari to a blank page however.

Because I have not been able to reproduce the problem on OS 10.11.6 running Safari 10.1, and my Mac can't run OS 10.12.4, I have sent emails to the BOINC Developer and alpha tester email lists asking for someone with a newer Mac to look into this.
