I have recently had cause to run Mamp Pro on my macOS computer.

I noticed that when Mamp Pro is running, Boinc stops working.

The reason appears to be that Mamp Pro presents itself as a server on 'localhost' and this confuses Boinc - in that it too is looking for something on localhost, but obviously not finding it when Mamp Pro is running.

If it turn off Mamp Pro, Boinc starts working again.

Is there a way to configure one or other app to allow them both to co-exist?

The only connection between Mamp, localhost and BOINC not running that I can think of is if Mamp has port 31416 open. In that case BOINC client won't run.

For all the other reasons BOINC may decide to not run, please copy+paste messages from BOINC's Event Log, in particular messages about computing suspended.
