Using Windows 10, BOINC version 7.6.22 on three separate computers under the same working home network internet router. Total projects are: Fight Neglected Diseases, Rosetta@home, SETI@home. Notice received: Fight Neglected Diseases: Notice from BOINC This project is using an old URL. When convenient, remove the project, then add https://compute.gridrepublic.org/ Questions: 1. I understand the basic corrective measure, but how do I take this step without losing all of the previously earned credits? Or must I accept a reset to zero count? 2. For whatever the corrective measure is, do I do this online and each of the computers will be affected, or must I take the same corrective measure for each computer separately? Sideline question of much lower value: Is it possible to put all of my projects under a single user name? Apparently I used more than one user name, but each of them are active under the same account based on the email address. Thanks in advance. |

Using Windows 10, BOINC version 7.6.22 on three separate computers under the same working home network internet router. The project updated their URL. Your account is the same. Reattach using the same account if you want to maintain everything for that project. Yes, You must update each computer that is attached to that project. The actual user name you create on each site can be whatever you like. It is just a test label and meaningless. You can change it by selecting other account info on your account for a given project site. Your "account" is really the email address you used for the project. |

Thank you for your input of information. I understood everything that you stated with one singular exception. Perhaps knowing that I just choose whatever project that I choose to do and let the computer handle the rest will explain why I am lacking in understanding. I am knowledgeable about many online tasks, but BOINC is simply something that runs on my computers - I am just not geeked out into specifics. So, that being said, when you say that I have to "reattach", does that mean that, for each computer, I go to that individual project webpage and signup for that project and NOT delete the project (with the older settings) already on my computer? And after taking that step, each computer will reset maintaining notations of previous work done? I am guessing what the working definition for "reattach" happens to be. Am I correct? I am sure the correcting action is a simple task. I am just rarely making changes to the settings for the program. |

Actually, you don't "need" to do anything. This particular project has moved - well, it has more work still to do, so better wording might be 'is in the process of moving' - to servers provided for them by a third party. But they are doing it in a way which ensures that both the old and the new addresses can be used in parallel - certainly for the time being, and quite possibly permanently. Treat the current messages as 'informational', at most 'advisory', but certainly not 'obligatory'. If the wording changes, come back here, or go direct to the project website, and ask again. |
