Well, I don't mind images being resized to a more normal size, considering some of you don't know how to behave yourself, but I do agree that 600px may be a tad small.

However, remember that Bootstrap is added for easier use on handheld (mobile) devices and that you wouldn't want a large image (or code-box) on a 5 inch screen.

(Hmmm, I see there are no scroll bars on the code boxes in my browser on my mobile phone...)

I know we're in a lounge here, but this is supposed to be a development and debugging board, and sometimes one needs to refer to a screenshot. Even though I know how to crop and scale before posting, nowadays my BOINC Manager windows are full HD (1920 x 1080) - 600 px (the minimum width) for the event log, and the remaining 1320 px for the main Manager window beside the log. So a full Manager screenshot (still without scaleable fonts) will be shrunk to less than half size. Read that if you can.

Whilst I know this is the BOINC forums I suspected that once it works OK here it could be rolled out at SETI

Anybody else notice that when you load a forum with new posts, it goes to the bottom of the first new post, instead of to the top of it, and you have to scroll up to see the beginning?
Not positive now that the Seti forums are different, but it is bugging me, so I believe it is so.
And of course, I cannot test it on Seti at the moment.

EDIT...even when I made this new post, when it reloaded the page, it went to the bottom of my new post, not the top of it. (I meant to edit my last post, not reply to it.)

Yes. It loads from just above the level of my nose downwards - avatar-speaking. I'd have complained before now if it was my own nose..

This is where "top" is and it seems to move around a bit too so that there is more space above it on some occasions (which of course you don't see at the time)

And now that Seti is back up and I can test it, I can confirm my suspicions.
On Seti, when I load a thread with new posts, it goes to the oldest new post, and shows it from the top of the post, not from the bottom.

So here on FF 50.0, I'm seeing the top line of the first new post is at roughly the center of the window.

All I can say is that on Seti, the new post is displayed neatly from it's beginning. Here, the new post is displayed from somewhere in the body and you have to scroll up to get to the beginning of it. Rather messy.

And the answer is no, that's not it. But what I do see is that the top of my long message here started at the same line number as the new header does, so those lines are covered by the header and I must scroll up to see the beginning. Thus it would seem that the header size was not accounted for.
Also, I would note that perhaps the BOINC logo could be scaled down in size a bit to help this ...
[edit] But there is some attempt to center the message starter position that is going awry.

That being given, I am not sure I understand why the effort is being made when the forums at Seti work so seamlessly.

The forums at Seti will eventually also get this stuff, as probably all BOINC forums out there will. It's the latest development of the BOINC back-end, geared towards them being available on mobile devices.

The 'jump to middle of the first unread post' problem has to do with the navigation bar at the top, and a solution is at hand (was already available in Bootstrap development, but why it isn't included in their source code, no one knows).

The development of the back-end/forums is just about the only development BOINC has, as although there is some movement in the client source code from volunteer developers, we must acknowledge we're down two of our main developers: Rom Walton has left us, and Charlie Fenton is only volunteering here and there. So I wouldn't expect a new client out any time soon. (Usually when I post something like this, they surprise me and do the opposite. So here's to hoping. :))

We should develop this style of different forums, as otherwise BOINC admins would be pushed into the arms of the Drupal development. Not sure you'd want to go there.

I saw you do a [ size=9] (minus the space) inside the quote earlier, but it won't automagically work if you don't add the end tag, in this case [ /size] (minus the space) before the end quote tag.

Edit: I noticed that it will work outside of quoted text, which isn't good either.

Drupal is defiantly not a good answer.
It takes so much longer so do anything on Einstein since they went with it and kind of puts me off the project all together.

I think that some do not understand the impact of the 'social aspect' of the Seti forums.
For some of us, it is a daily way of life.
