(This is also posted in http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=11078)
I installed BOINC through the Google Play Store, but when it launches it just 'hangs' on the initial Title Screen.

What does the previous version do? BOINC 7.4.43

(although I'm not sure if that one fully supports x86, I do know it doesn't support x86_64 so don't worry if it doesn't get the 'right work' sent. Not all projects have x86_64 applications for Android, not even all of them have x86 applications for Android.)

I'll forward this info to the developer.

This is my first time trying it on the Nextbook; again, it won't even get to the "attach to project", just loads the first screen (that displays 'BOINC') and stays that way for a couple of minutes, until I decide to close it.

Just installed .53 on two ARM phones last night and so far they seem to be working- it's just this one.

EDIT: About to try .43, will post info.

Clicked on the link for the direct download and it did, but now it says "Can't open file". (I've never been quite sure how to install directly from an APK, so...)

EDIT:
Figured it out, blame that part on the user- just had to go to a different screen.
It's running, and crunching SETI and Beta right now.

Thanks for trying. I've let the developer know about that.
Keep an eye out for a possible new version that he then wants you to try. Not many people with Intel CPUs on their Android devices out there that report back to us.

"While we're here":

7625058, ARM7, 4.4.2 KitKat, seen in 7.4.43/7.4.51/7.4.53 under 1 or both Cores:
1.) If I run other programs that end up... hogging some memory (e.g. Chrome with several tabs), and switch back to the BOINC manager, it will (occasionally) briefly come back to a white screen before 'reloading' the task tab/page. This will usually also result in the stderr adding a line about "Text Relocations".

8038053, Intel, 5.0 Lollipop, 7.4.43, 2 of 4 cores running BOINC:
1.) Same as 1. above but the white screen is shorter. Haven't returned any tasks yet to see about the stderr.
2.) When running a full-screen app- usually 'Clash of Clans' or 'Boom Beach' (but not, usually, YouTube), the icon that usually shows up in the Notification Bar disappears. (This doesn't happen for the other host under [usually] any circumstances.)

If I do get 'asked' it may take up to 12 hours to clear my task cache first, to make sure...

Thanks for this question and the responses. I had the same problem on an Intel, 5.0 Lollipop (Asus Zenpad 8), and .43 did the trick for me as well. Much appreciated.

Sorry, the latest version of boinc from the play store (7. Something 53 off the top of my head) won't load past the boinc logo but the .43 version works fine, I'm assuming it's because my phone has an intel atom cpu
