Project Asteroids@home
Server status - online
Project status - offline
Update - 17-06-2022

New server is finally up and running...we now have to transfer all project data...

Wow! I missed that one.

The certificate unexpired after all.

It was already on the BOINC STATS “Retired Projects” list.

From experience I assume the 2 weeks will be somewhat longer.

GREAT NEWS anyway

edit:

oh no: on https://asteroidsathome.net MOZILLA complains:

"asteroidsathome.net uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.

Error code: MOZILLA_PKIX_ERROR_SELF_SIGNED_CERT "

EVERYTHING but ONE server status is RED

If I try to access any other website pages I get:
Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request

Reason: DNS lookup failure for: einstein11.aei.uni-hannover.de

Einstein@Home is down due to a (Uni Hanover) campus-wide power outage. The machines keep running on UPS, but the UPS that powers the network failed. It is unclear when power and operation can be restored, but it should be a matter of hours rather than days.

Einstein@Home: external power has been restored a few hours ago, but the fuse to the machine room keeps blowing. We're looking for a shortcut or other reason. This will take longer than we hoped for.

Thanks for the update Bernd.

Disconnect all the loads downstream of the fuse and turn one or two back in at time until the fuse blows again.

E@H is back!

The "machine room" covers the basement of a building with a couple of rooms, >100 racks with >2000 computers, two main UPS, several independent cooling systems etc. No chance to do such a thing manually.

Still some problems at E@H:
First uploads worked, but now no more uploads.
Downloads are working.

WCG have obviously fixed their certificate issue as site is back up and uploads and downloads are happening albeit even more slowly than before presumably due to how the servers are getting hammered with the backlog.

The URL for BOINC@TACC no longer resolves to an IP address. I haven't contacted TACC to see if the project is dead, as I think that is best left to someone officially connected with BOINC.

Any secure connection attempt to Cosmology@home fails -- I have been trying to join the project, but it appears they must be using a self-signed certificate: both BOINC and Firefox refuse to accept it because it can't be verified.

Things are improving, especially transfer speeds. I just got a new project arrive less than 15 minutes ago, all in under 3 minutes.
Oh, and it all arrived without any of those infamous "transient HTTP errors".
