Anyone know where Kryptos @ Home went? Did they finish? Did they give up? I was in about 5th place, then I was away for some months and came back to find it gone.

It disappeared into the ether without a trace along with all our computations and "personal" information.
I woke up one morning and completed task were not uploading, days past turning into weeks... and still nothing.
BOINCStats "retired" the project from active project listings on 2021-09-18.

You seem to be suspecting something untoward. Perhaps the guy running it died of covid?

And what is this "personal" info you speak of? I didn't tell him the size of my appendage or my national insurance number....

Login Name, email address, password, etc...

When a project or web site disappears into the ether without a trace who know what they or someone else could do with the information they have gathered on the users of the project or website.

Worst-case is the information gets placed on the black market/ dark web for sale.

Yes, it's terrible, they could log into my other Boinc projects and earn me more credits. I'm so worried. What should I do?

That is up to you.

Some people use same login/username and password information for almost everything on the internet to make it easy to remember.

I am not worried because my BOINC info is not used elsewhere on the internet.

Can we please continue this chat outside the Project Outages thread? It's probably interesting information and all, but it has nothing to do in this thread.

There is no function to move to another thread, I'm afraid you have to do that.

It seems that MilkyWay has been down for about an hour. I can't contact the website, or get new work.

I saw it reading 0 on the server status for work to send out, then shortly afterwards I couldn't get to the website. I assumed he was rebooting it, but perhaps it's crashed again. I don't think they know what's wrong :-( Just when I got a new old card I wanted to test aswell. It won't display, it won't folding at home, it dozes off doing Einstein, but Collatz works. I felt sorry for it and bought it under half price. Is it weird to have feelings for electronics?

MilkyWay is having problems again. I can't get to the website.
I can get CPU work (N-Body), but the GPU work (Separations) is very limited; a few come in, but not enough.

It's on and off for GPU. I put all my 6 GPUs on it overnight thinking they'd do a bit now and then, then got up in the morning to find the garage tropical. They'd all run most of the night. Not always 300 at a time, but enough to keep going.

Don't know if already mentioned but I can't find it - WUProp@Home seems to be shut down permanently.

Homepage says:

Project end
I have no time to manage correctly the project.
So the work generation has been stopped and the project will be offline in a few days. 8 Mar 2022, 5:47:55 UTC

Seems S├ębastien will keep WUProp going, which is great news (see https://boinc.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=14593&postid=107512#107512).

Any news on WCG? I found somewhere (a week ago) they said "everything is working great and ready to start the final testing", but I can't find that page now. Their main page just says "soon", and their forum is offline.

They originally said toward the latter part of April, but I don't remember the date. It could change in any case.
