On MP systems, EDF may be invoked prematurely and unnecessarily. Could it be because the scheduler doesn't consider that there are more than one processor? Perhaps the sum of resource shares shouldn't be considered 100% but n*100%, where n in the number of available processors.

Or, better yet, as I mentioned before, the CC could schedule for each processor separately and put only one processor in EDF.
