I've an issue running GPU-WUs from Seti@home on my AMD HD6850 GPU. After a few seconds of work the screen freezes for about 3 seconds, then it blanks for about one second and finally the driver detects that the GPU is not reacting and resets it. After that the processing the WU still consumes GPU time but does not show any progress. The remaining time remains constant. GPU-Z shows a GPU workload of 0%. Stoppping and restarting GPU processing in BOINC repeats the same behavior from the beginning.

Running GPU-WUs from Collatz Conjecture works fine. Stressing the GPU with Furmark doesn't show any issue.

The GPU works on stock speed. Underclocking or overvolting didn't help.

I'm running Windows 7 (64bit), BOINC 7.4.36 (x64) and Catalyst 13.1 (atiumdag 9.12.0.0).

Catatyst 13.1 has a compiler Bug and doesn't work with the Setiathome_v7 app, doing the compilations on that driver causes the result you observed:

ATI Driver Version Cheat Sheet

Cat 13.1 has APP runtime 1084.4 compiler Bug. Do not use for SETI@home v7.

13.1 9.012.0.0000 2.8 10.0.1084.4 1.4.1741 2013.01.17

Update your driver.

That is why Seti has plan_classes for post Cat 13.2 drivers, and pre Cat 13.1 drivers, So Setiathome_v7 work isn't sent to hosts running Cat 13.1:

Setiathome Applications

Windows/x86 7.03 (opencl_ati5_cat132) 30 May 2013, 0:18:19 UTC 4,018 GigaFLOPS

Windows/x86 7.03 (opencl_ati5_sah) 30 May 2013, 0:18:19 UTC 393 GigaFLOPS

Thanks a lot for your good support.

I've updated to Catalyst 14.12. First the issue wasn't gone. But then I rejected all the old opencl_ati5_nocal WUs and recveived fresh opencl_ati5_cat132 ones. Now everything works fine.
