Known Issues

Version 5.10

  • (Windows) If BOINC runs at the same time as Windows XP 3-D screensavers, the system becomes sluggish and unresponsive.
  • (Windows) Applications that were built before October 2004 do not display screensaver graphics with the Service or Shared install type, or the Single-user install type with the password protect screensaver option on NT based machines.
  • (Windows) BOINC may NOT start at startup if you are running Windows Defender (WinXP, WinXPx64, WinVista, WinVistax64). This issue should be resolved in a future version of BOINC. In order to have BOINC start automatically you'll need to install as a service. On Vista the user account will need to have administrative access to the system.
  • (Linux) for portability, the BOINC Manager is built with GTK1, which doesn't support copy-and-paste on some systems, and which looks ugly.
  • (Windows) BOINC will immediatelly stop computing of any project when local time is changed by several hours to the past. Workaround: to "UNfreeze" computing just close and start BOINC again.
