919	BOINC File Upload 14-day Deadline	mo.v	davea	I understand that if a file in the BM Transfers tab fails to upload successfully BOINC puts it on a 14-day countdown. After the 14-day time limit the file is allowed one more attempt to upload. If this last-ditch attempt fails BOINC abandons the file and the task is lost. \r\n\r\nI know that in an ideal world all projects would have effective and speedy contingency plans for all the possible disasters that can beset upload servers. \r\n\r\nCPDN does not exist in an ideal world. A most remarkable series of disasters has befallen one of the upload servers with the result that some or many files allocated to it may soon start to time out while users may be unable to tell from the server status page whether or not it is safe to make the last-ditch upload attempt. In such circumstances files belonging to set-and-forget users can also easily be lost.\r\n\r\nUsers can rescue such tasks by restoring a BOINC Data directory backup. But the proportion who make restorable backups is inevitably small.\r\n\r\nUsers can also rescue such files by deleting or editing the BOINC transfer time limit. It is unfortunate that we should need to ask ordinary users, particularly newbies, to do any such thing. \r\n\r\nI therefore request that the 14-day file transfer time limit be extended to a minimum of 3 weeks. \r\n\r\nMo\r\n	Enhancement	closed	Minor	6.10	Client - Scheduler Policy	6.6.31	fixed
