64-bit Linux client fails to connect via HTTPS

Running 64-bit Linux client 5.9.11 on 64-bit Ubuntu 7.04 system, connecting to the net via a proxy. When trying to attach to the Worldcommunitygrid project, my system logs an error:

Someone more familiar with HTTPS suggested that the error might have something to do with how the SSL version is being specified (i.e., by the boinc client).

Anyway, I was able to successfully attach (through the same proxy) to the WCG project on a (different) system running the 32-bit Linux client 5.10.0. That says to me that my WCG account, and my proxy, are working properly -- leaving the 64-bit client as the probable cause of my HTTPS connect problem.

The curl discussion found a difference in behavior between going through a proxy, and not going through a proxy. In my case, when I tried to go through my proxy from the 32-bit boinc client (I think 5.10.0) on 32-bit SuSE 10.2, communication with WCG worked. When I tried to go through the same proxy from the 64-bit boinc client 5.9.11 on Ubuntu 7.04, communication with WCG failed.

The problem also exists using 5.8.17 x86_64 on Ubuntu 7.04 and problem didn't exist using 5.4 which was last version used before upgrade to 5.8.17 and 5.9.11

I compiled a 64-bit Linux client from the boinc subversion code as of 6-15-2007. When running this new version (5.10.6) of the boinc client, I am now able to communicate successfully with the World Community Grid project.

As far as I'm concerned, this ticked can be closed as "Fixed". The "official" 64-bit Linux client 5.10.8 communicates successfully with the World Community Grid project.
