Hi. I need some additional information from you to help me better figure out what is going wrong. ---General Information: Operating System and version (for example: Windows XP, Mac OSX, Suse Linux) Type of processor (for example: Pentium 4, AMD Athalon) Amount of RAM (for example: 256 megs) BOINC version (current release is 5.4.11 for Windows/Linux and 5.4.9 for Mac) Projects being run if any How BOINC is installed (Single user/shared/service) Do you use the screen saver? ---If you are having a problem connecting: Type of connection (dial up/always on) Do you use a proxy? Do you use a firewall? If so, which one? ---If you are having trouble with the screen saver or graphics: What graphics card do you have? Are your graphics drivers up to date? Is your Direct X version up to date? (see here for details -- http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=1261) What happens when you hit the show graphics button for the running work unit? ---Please include a description of the problem you are having with as many details as possible. What were you doing when the problem happened? Can you consistently reproduce the problem? What kinds of things have you already tried to fix it? ---Please look under the messages tab in BOINC manager and copy all messages into an email. If there aren't any messages there because of having to close BOINC or reboot, then please attach sterrdae.txt (it can be found in the BOINC directory - usually c:/program files/BOINC) to your next email. If you would like to try to figure this out in a real time chat, you can contact me on Skype through the helpers page. You don't need a microphone to do this, there is a text based chat system in Skype.
