My first time posting here.
I will start with the problem.

One of the projects I run is ATLAS@home.
One of its tasks has been running for a week or more.
It was going very slowly, only advancing 0.01% at a time.
At one point I got a message (which promptly disappeared)
that I only had a certain amount of memory available.
I think it said 4 GB or so. But it said ATLAS needed
7.8 GB. So what I did later on was expand my preferences
on both BOINC and ATLAS. BOINC, I think I put 20 GB.
On ATLAS, maybe 8 or 10 GB.
But the ATLAS simulation continued to be very slow.
By the time it got to 99.95%, it had slowed exponentially.
It was literally advancing at 0.001% at a time.
It has since reached 100% but the task is still in my queue.
My BOINC says ATLAS is taking up 7.9 GB right now.

Other information.
I'm running Windows 7. 64 bit.
My BOINC is a user install.
The computer has 8 GB of RAM.
Running an Intel Core i5 K655 @ "3.20GHz 3.20GHz"
There is an NVidia graphics card, but I don't know
its specs.

Should I just abort that task or is there anything else I can do?

Let me know if I need to give more information.

BOINC is just the managing program, it doesn't do any of the science. So when the science application doesn't stop at the end of the task, you'll have to report this to the developers of that project, and ask them for what to do next. In this case, I will refer you to the ATLAS@Home forums.

Just check you have activated the hardware virtualization in the BIOS.

I looked at the thread a bit. I think that will work.
But how do I go about enabling virtualization int he BIOS?
Sorry, I'm just barely skilled enough to stumble into

If you know how to enter bios, then try to find a page there with a line "CPU configuration". Enter into that thing... and there should be some "virtualization" option or two.
