speedman, it sounds like you need to open multiple threads since you are lumping a bunch of different experiences into one titled NFS@home posting problem. You may find it wise to not change your own topic. Next, some of the issues you are having are probably better suited at the actual projects. For example: Your issue with over heating is not a BOINC issue. That is a system issue. If you have more troubles with one project than another, you should go to their forums to address it in case others experience it as well. Your over heating sounds like a design flaw with your system. As far as your YAFU issue, that is certainly an example of something to take up with the project. If they don't have proper check pointing, it may either be something they are working on or have decided can not be added. That is not BOINC's fault. However, if it is an ongoing problem for you (which may very well extend beyond YAFU), I would suggest running projects that have no check pointing in a virtual machine. By doing that, you can turn on snapshots. Though not perfect, it will let you continue crunching where the snapshot left off. Now, for PrimeGrid, this is certainly something you should go to their forums on. They are well versed and very active over there. I'm sure someone can walk you through the PRP setup quite easily. Since you say it isn't easy for you, you may want to suggest they make a how to guide for new users whom aren't familiar with such clients. I'm sure it would be invaluable to others like yourself. |
