Dear all,

I launched a new project Spatialtemporal QoS volunteer computing project. It is a research project founded by National Science Foundation (NSF). It uses Internet-connected computers to perform distributed web service evaluation so that more accurate service quality information can be delivered to end users.

Currently it supports windows_x86_64 and windows_intel_x86. This project uses java to monitor the quality of OGC web services(WMS, WCS, CSW, WPS, WFS. etc), so please make sure your java has been installed correctly.

1) This project will use your location to monitor the accurate web service quality information. If you accept to run this project, the project will get your IP address.

2) To make sure you can run this project. Please make sure you have installed JRE.

3) The main page of the project is: http://climateathome.com/qos/

4) If you have multiple hosts in same location, please register only one host to save the computing resource.

Thanks,

Kai Liu

What kind of traffic load (bandwidth, etc) can one expect with this project? I assume it is "Non-CPU-Intensive"?

Yes, it's Non-CPU-Intensive. Haven't noticed any impact on my bandwidth at all; I'm a very light internet user so any extra traffic would be obvious. The WUs are short, and there's a 6 hour holdoff between getting new WUs so I can't see it stressing anyones connection. Which is nice.

Cheers,

Al.
