I had attached to SETI project successfully and had done a few work units, then I decided to attach to Climate Change project. No URL was given to attach to, one has to download screen saver program etc. During installation of cilmatechange it closed the BOINC manager and upon relaunching the BOINC manager I now notice only climatechange project is attached, it has detached/deleted SETI along with its work units. Surely this should not happen!

Problem fixed. I uninstalled BOINC for BBC Climate Change, reinstalled the conventional BOINC manager and my previous SETI work units were there and started, then attached the BBC Climate Change site in the conventional way as returned user which was accepted and software and data downloaded. Climate Change Experiment then started and pre-empted SETI so as Climate Change was going to take 2887hrs+ to complete I suspended that so as to resume SETI. All's well now :-)

You followed the correct procedure. Many people attaching to BBC Climate find themselves in the same situation, not realizing that this project uses a modified version of Boinc.
You should not have to suspend anything. Boinc is designed to automatically take care of switching between application per your General preference and resource share allocations.
