In preferences, it is possible to indicate how much memory BOINC is allowed to use while the computer is idle or in use, but for CPU use, there is no such situational customization. My goal is to let BOINC use 100% of the CPU (both 100% of processors and 100% of processing time) while the computer is idle, but restrict it to 50% of the processors when the computer is in use. Is there any way to do this? (Apart from excluding particular programs or using the memory customization to indirectly restrict CPU usage)

This is one of those questions that gets asked every so often, it's one of the top FAQs. All I can say is that it's on the developer to-do list, but no estimate on when it's going to be included, if ever.
