What was your old version of BOINC?

The password is the one found in the file gui_rpc_auth.cfg in your BOINC folder. By default it is a 32 character hexadecimal password, generated at random.
You can try either of the following:

1. Exit BOINC completely.
- Open the gui_rpc_auth.cfg file and delete the whole entry, then press enter to leave a blank space.
- Save the file.
- Open Boinc Manager, Advanced, Select computer.
- Type in Localhost in the Host name option, leave the password blank and hit OK.

2. Power down your computer completely, wait up to 10 seconds, then power up again.

3. Exit BOINC completely.
- Open the gui_rpc_auth.cfg file and delete the whole entry, then fill in a pasword of your own.
- Save the file.
- Open Boinc Manager, Advanced, Select computer.
- Type in Localhost in the Host name option, fill in the password you set in the file and press OK.

Any of these three should fix it.

If there isn't any file called gui_rpc_auth.cfg, then make one with Notepad. Make sure the extension is .cfg, not .txt!!
