Was running 10.8 Snow Leopard. Updated yesterday to the newest 10.9 Maverick. Everything Boinc / seti@home related appears to run fine except the screensaver. I cannot find a way to turn in back on. Only the Maverick screensavers which have formats I do not like. Arrrrrgh!

After selecting a running task, can you do Show graphics from BOINC Manager?
Does your system have an Nvidia videocard? We do know about the problem that OpenCL doesn't work under Mavericks, that's because Nvidia hasn't released an updated driver yet that works under Mavericks.

Since the graphics application/screen saver uses OpenGL and because OpenCL and OpenGL use essentially the same hardware inside the GPU, this could be related. And then there's nothing you can do except wait until Nvidia has released new drivers.

If from within Boinc Manager I select a running task, and click on "show graphics" I do see what used to be the screen saver in a small window. I have a mac-mini with 4gb of memory, I replaced the HD with an SSD, it came with a Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 graphics card.

When I go to "system preferences" and click on Desktop and Screen Saver. Then choose screen saver, BOINC is not one of the choices, and there seems to be no way to indicate that I want to use BOINC.

Yes...Should I have deleted anything in addition to uninstalling BOINC before I reinstalled? I have version 7.0.65. After I install it, it found the task that had been working and in a couple of minutes took off where the old one left off.

No, I don't think you should've removed anything additionally. But I'll ask the developer for the Mac.

Similar problem with mavericks and boinc.

Macbook Pro OSX 10.9
CPU: Intel Core i7 2.2 GHz
Memory: 16 GB DDR3 1333 MHz
SSD: OWC Mercury EXTREME Pro 6G SSD 480 Gb

I keep getting a "No Running Tasks / Computer is in use after a few minutes of running. Occasionally the screen saver will change to show a running process, but then the next message is the "No Running Tasks" instead of the various completion rates of the Seti&Home downloads. I get this error even when I have everything set to run all the time with no limits on CPU.

Here's a sample of the BOINC log. I think that PermittedFrontApps may be part of the Gatekeeper in Mavericks but I'm not really familiar with the OS.

No, I don't think you should've removed anything additionally. But I'll ask the developer for the Mac.

Here's what Charlie answered me:
Hi Jord,

I also tested this tonight on OS 10.9 Mavericks with BOINC 7.0.65 and also 7.2.23. In both cases, the BOINC installer set BOINC as the screen saver (when I selected that option in the installer) and the screen saver ran correctly. And in both cases the BOINC screensaver did correctly appear in the list of screen savers, at the end of the list just before the "Random" screen saver.

It is worth noting that the BOINC screen saver appeared with a generic icon in the list, as it does under OS 10.8 Mountain Lion, so you must look for its name rather than for an icon.

I have added thumbnail images to the screen savers for new builds (including 7.2.25), so that they will appear with their own icon in the list of screen savers.

Cheers,
--Charlie

I have forwarded your problem to the developer, but in the mean time, same question for you: Did you reinstall BOINC after updating to Mavericks?

Similar problem with mavericks and boinc.

Can you whether the Event Log and Tasks tab show BOINC running or suspended, and if suspended what is the suspend reason shown?
