I'm running Boinc Manager 7.0.64 on Windows Vista. I'm trying to connect to a Boinc Client running on CentOS 6.4. It appears that the client has been started properly (partial ps output follows): [root@centos2 ~]# ps aux | grep boinc boinc 2381 0.4 0.2 91064 4540 ? SN 21:16 0:00 /usr/bin/boinc_client --allow_remote_gui_rpc --dir /var/lib/boinc And if I run Boinc Manager on the CentOS box, things look fine. But whenever I try to launch a Boinc Manager on the Vista box, and connect to the CentOS client, it fails to connect (sticks at "Connecting to centos2.demo.domain.com"). It would appear to be a blocked connection, but I can SSH from the Vista machine to the CentOS machine, as well as ping it. Is there some kind of port that I need to have open to make the BOINC rpc work? Oh, and the BOINC Manager on the Vista box monitors the BOINC clients running on the Vista box just fine -- so the Manager seems to work correctly. |

You have set up the remote_hosts.cfg on the CentOS host, and got it's GUI RPC password haven't you? http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Controlling_BOINC_remotely Claggy |

You have set up the remote_hosts.cfg on the CentOS host, and got it's GUI RPC password haven't you? Yes, I had that done. I used netstat and saw that the manager was trying to sync on port 31416. I adjusted the firewall on the box running the boinc client to allow TCP traffic on that port, and was able to get the manager to connect. |
