I have been using the SETI software for a very long timer, then did it through BOINC for a long time. Now I am on Win 8 and the software refuses to run, nor can I reinstall it. Deleted everything, tried to reinstall - nothing.

This is rather ironic as I was chosen as user of the day by SETI for today!!!

More information, please. Error messages, warnings from Windows Event Viewer?
How does it refuse to run, is UAC in the way, what if you make it more lenient? How did you install BOINC, as a service or as a user? You will have to be as eloquent as possible for us to know what happens on your system, we're not looking over your shoulder.

Same problem here. Installation instructions are not verbose, they just say download the file (7.0.28 for Windows 64-bit) and then doubleclick. This does not work for me.
Even if I run it as an administrator. After installation, there's nothing, no dialog box or anything on the system tray. If I waite, the screensaver starts only saying that Boinc is not running.
UAC can't be in the way, I gave it full rights.
I located the BOINC folder and tried to run those exe files to access the configuration panel but without success.

Could you try this FAQ first, please?
