I have BOINC 7.0.31 for Mac OSX 10.8.2. Recently I noticed that my tasks were no longer progressing - they had been stuck at a certain level of progress for a while, probably over a week before I realized what was going on. I tried restarting BOINC and restarting the computer, to no success. The tasks that were running were continually restarting (every three minutes or so) or stuck at 100% and still running. I decided to abort those tasks just in case it was a problem with them, and re-ran the BOINC installer just in case. But now it will not fetch any new tasks at all. It says it's communicating with the projects, and it did take those ones that were aborted off the list when I communicated with those projects, but it won't get new tasks from any of them - it'll either say the project isn't the highest priority or it'll say it gets zero new tasks. I don't know what's going on because I haven't changed my configuration settings or done anything with BOINC besides let it run. I did have one issue with it earlier this month - it stopped completely, with no movement whatsoever. That differed from this time in that it was completely frozen - no time incrementing, no notices from the log, no nothing - and that it resolved without issue by restarting BOINC. I don't know what the problem is here, and I don't know how to solve it...I hope someone can provide any information, as I haven't been able to figure anything out by searching. Thank you. |

1. Which project applications were stuck? 2. Which projects do you have added to your BOINC and are playing a role in this? 3. Are any tasks set to Suspend (Tasks tab, click "Show all tasks" so the button print changes to "Show active tasks")? 4. Are any projects set to Suspend (Projects tab, status column)? 5. Are any of the projects you want work from set to "No new tasks" (the button showing says "Allow new tasks")? 6. Are the selected projects up and do they have an OS X application and available work? |

1. PrimeGrid, Einstein, SZTAKI, and climateprediction 2. I've got a lot of projects in addition to those four. There's a total of 21 projects I've got attached. None of the others besides the four aforementioned projects had active workunits in my list at the time this happened, but none of them are feeding me new projects, either. 3. No. 4. No. 5. No. 6. There are a couple projects that I know don't have available work for my configuration, and I haven't seen or expected workunits from them. But Einstein is highly reliable - it uses my GPU, and is the only project I'm attached to that does with my current configuration - and since upgrading to my current computer I've always had plenty of workunits sent my way - usually my queue has varying numbers of workunits from three or four projects besides Einstein, and it takes in workunits from the projects that have them fairly consistently (all projects are set to the same weight). |

There's no user named lrnovak at Einstein (for instance), so please can you link to your computer there? I'd prefer a link to this one as it'll show the contact log. Else post the first 30-50 lines of the BOINC messages (including showing the projects you're attached to and with which hostIDs). The messages are in the Event Log under CTRL + SHIFT + E or advanced menu->Event Log. Is there any work on the computer being crunched at this time? Is the computer by chance busy with something else? Can you check the Activity Monitor for that? |

And what if you try BOINC 7.0.42 or 7.0.44 (links available in the change log thread)? |

I came back to it this morning and now it's running like nothing ever happened. Getting tasks from projects, running them fine without restarting constantly, reporting them when they're done. I'm still confused about what happened in the first place, I'll have to keep an eye on it and see if it recurs. |
